Celebrating Care Experience Week

On September 16th, the Oakland Medical Center celebrated KP’s Care Experience week by showcasing teams that contribute to care experience.

The 2025 Care Experience Day at the Oakland Medical Center was a vibrant celebration of the compassionate, innovative, and collaborative work our nursing teams do every day to elevate the patient experience. The event brought together nurses, interdisciplinary teams, and leaders to showcase initiatives to members that reflect a commitment to patient-centered care.

Among the highlights were presentations from nurses engaged in Professional Governance, who shared how shared decision-making and frontline leadership are driving improvements in care quality and team engagement. Jenny Schnurr, BSN, RN, Coordinating Council chair, showcased the Professional Governance structure and provided information about the work of each core council.

Sandeep Everest, BSN, RN, CNOR, and Christopher Ng, RN from the Care Experience/Equity, Inclusion and Diversity/Caring Science Council displayed a new care board that they are piloting. This board is part of their evidence-based practice project to improve current care boards to better reflect the needs of patients and enhance communication amongst the care teams.

The DAISY Award Program was also featured, honoring extraordinary nurses whose clinical skill and compassionate care make a lasting impact on patients and families. Interactive displays, storytelling, and team-led exhibits illustrated the diverse ways our nurses contribute to healing environments — from enhancing communication and cultural responsiveness to advancing safety and comfort at the bedside.
