Together we grow: Celebrating our Certified Nurses

National certification validates nurses’ expertise, boosts credibility, and drives excellence in patient care and lifelong learning.

Certified Nurses Day, March 19, honors nurses who achieve national board certification, reflecting their dedication to professionalism, excellence, safety, and service. At Kaiser Permanente Fresno, this commitment is clear: 193 nurses – 26% of our nursing staff – are certified, the highest percentage in Northern California. By comparison, in 2022, only 98 nurses were certified.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno celebrated Certified Nurses Day with a vibrant “Sweet Treat” theme. The event featured colorful educational displays created by certified nurses from departments such as Critical Care, Emergency, Maternal-Child Health, Med-Surg, Operating Room, PACU, Pre-Op, Telemetry, and the Nursing Professional Development Council. Interactive games added an engaging experience for attendees.

Maternal-Child Health leads with 53 certified nurses and supports colleagues through a mentorship program that fosters collaboration and growth. Nurse managers provide resources like workbooks and flashcards, creating an environment where certification is encouraged.

To further support professional development, the Advanced Nursing Education Team shared tuition reimbursement and conference discount information. The Evidence-Based Practice and Research Nursing Committee offered guidance for clinical ladder projects and academic research, promoting evidence-based practices for optimal patient outcomes.

This celebration underscored a culture of accountability and advancement at Kaiser Permanente Fresno, where nurses are empowered to elevate their practice and support one another in achieving excellence.
