Nurse-led Council Day a success

The first Council Day at Kaiser Permanente San Jose featured frontline nurses presenting on the work of the four Core Pillars.

On August 4, the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Professional Governance Council hosted its first 8-hour, nurse-led, peer-to-peer Council Day. During these intensive educational meetings, nurse leaders from each of the Core Pillars, Professional Development, Quality & Safety, Research/EBP, and Caring Science/Care Experience presented several topics. Those topics ranged from the importance of peer-to-peer feedback, nursing sensitive indicators framed by American Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics, completing an A3, and cross walking the Caritas principles from Jean Watson and The Watson Caring Science Institute with the Press Ganey care experience metrics.

We had more than 65 attendees and the feedback from Council Day was overwhelmingly positive.
