On September 26, 2025, employees and physicians came together to celebrate 30 years of excellence at Richmond Medical Center. Staff enjoyed a beautiful afternoon filled with BBQ, line dancing, succulent planting, wellness activities, and a photo booth, while some even received their flu shots during the festivities.
Eighty years ago, Kaiser Permanente pioneered a new pre-paid health care model designed to prevent illness and ensure care was available when needed, allowing individuals to continue working and thriving. This innovative approach laid the foundation for opening the first East Bay hospital and ultimately the Richmond Medical Center.
Thirty years after opening the Richmond Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente continues to provide high-quality, innovative, and equitable care to the community.
During the celebration, Richmond’s senior leaders reflected on our deep roots in the community and reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to service. The event also included special recognitions, with proclamations from the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and the City of Richmond, honoring Kaiser Permanente’s 80-year legacy of dedication to the health and well-being of the Richmond community.
This milestone demonstrates how the Richmond Medical Center continues to foster shared governance, access to resources, and professional recognition, key components of structural empowerment that strengthen nursing practice and enhance patient care.
