The Magnet Ambassador Committee, comprised of 25 registered nurses across the hospital, identified a critical need: easier access to the wide range of resources available for professional development, evidence-based practice, professional governance, and recognition. Nurses often shared that they either didn’t know where to find resources or weren’t aware they existed. While many tools were available, the challenge was locating them quickly and consistently.
To address this, the committee worked throughout the year to create a centralized hub on the intranet, dubbed “The Cable Car” in San Francisco. With support from Public Affairs and IT, the team developed one-page handouts, collected links, and structured the new Nursing Excellence page on The Cable Car to make navigation simple, intuitive, and engaging. The goal was to ensure information was not only accessible but also presented in a way that encouraged staff to explore and use the resources.
Recognizing that the intranet is only accessible on KP devices, the committee took the initiative further by creating a Nursing Excellence page on the Yapp App, a free platform already in use across several departments. Nurses can join the page using a code, giving them access to similar resources and reminders for upcoming events from their personal devices at home.
Since its launch in November 2025, the Nursing Excellence intranet page has received more than 250 views, while over 50 RNs have subscribed to the Yapp App page. The committee plans to update both platforms monthly to ensure information remains current and relevant.
This initiative reflects the Magnet Committee’s commitment to empowering nurses with accessible, reliable resources that support professional growth and excellence. By streamlining access, the committee is helping nurses engage more fully in evidence-based practice, governance, and recognition — strengthening both individual development and the broader nursing community.
