Josephine Jorge-Reyes has been working in healthcare for over 30 years and has worked in various healthcare systems such as New York University, UCLA Medical Center, Stanford University Medical Center, El Camino Hospital, and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals both at South San Francisco and Redwood City Medical Centers.

Josephine was named the Chief Nurse Executive at the Redwood City Medical Center in May 2021. She is passionate about her vision for nursing practice and excellence in patient-centered care at the Redwood City Medical Center. Josephine guides her nursing leadership and frontline nursing teams to strengthen each team member’s ability to align with Kaiser Permanente Patient Care Services Northern California nursing leadership values, the Nursing Professional Practice Model, and competencies as noted by the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.

Josephine focuses on leadership and clinical nurse stability, and retention, and encourages bi-directional communication, transparent relationships, collaboration, professionalism, and business skills. She utilizes guiding principles set forth by nursing leadership organizations and creates standard work and shares her knowledge of complex healthcare environments with her teams to keep each team member educated toward strategic vision and organizational goals. Josephine teaches nurse leaders to have a growth mindset to foster learning as servant leaders and allow for advocacy to involve frontline nursing staff in decisions that affect their professional practice. Aside from providing role standards and professional practice accountability, Josephine supports the use of technology for improvements in clinical and financial performance within operations. She sponsors her team’s participation in the numerous region-wide projects to evaluate technology in clinical practice settings.

Josephine earned her BSN from the University of San Francisco in 1995 and her MSN from the University of Phoenix with a specialization in Nursing Education in 2011. She has a background in Cardiac and Critical Care Nursing and has held multiple roles in nursing leadership with her 23 years at Kaiser Permanente. Josephine has two Board Certifications, one as an Advanced Nursing Executive and another as a Nursing Professional Development practitioner. Josephine is in the last few months of her Ph.D. dissertation work with Capella University conducting a study on the qualitative experiences of graduate faculty and the use of technology while teaching in an online environment.

Josephine is the proud mom of a son who recently graduated from Cal Poly SLO in Civil Engineering. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, creating arts and crafts, and hiking. Josephine’s favorite quote is from Dr. Jane Goodall (Anthropologist) “You cannot get through a single day, without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
