List of accomplishments from core councils

Structure

  • Established the Unit Practice Council of Procedural Areas (Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Neuro-Interventional Radiology, and Endoscopy).
  • Established the Nurse Executive Council.
  • Integrated to PGC, specialty services such as Quality Nurse Consultants and PCCs.

Process

Council Development

  • Quarterly assessment using Council Health Assessment and Council Maturity tool.
  • Participation of the Council Co-Chairs and Committee Co-leads in meetings as part of succession planning.
  • Designating a Nurse Leader mentor and sponsor at the unit and core councils for coaching and support.
  • Integrated Leadership Development Sessions in the monthly PGC Day
  • Offering an 8- hr. Professional Governance Council workshop to new chairpersons and committee leaders.
  • Supporting training and development of the Evidence Based Practice Council.
  • Implemented PGC toolkit.

Standardized workflows

  • Standardization of Charters in all unit and core councils.
  • Standard templates and format of agendas, minutes, and forms.
  • Use of TEAMs/electronic format for all communications, documentation, and presentations.
  • Issue trackers for all councils.
  • Adopted 3 takeaways to promote the dissemination of information to the frontline.

  • Integration and representation from all Specialty Services (Quality Nurse Consultants, Home Health & Hospice, and Case Managers/Discharge Planners).
  • Decisions/ Issues resolved by Core Councils: 17 issues, 13 approved, 2 denied.
