Nurses and physicians provide care in Kenya

In September 2024, two Kaiser Roseville nurses, Jina Gloor, RN and Cherie Capagli RN, along with three physicians, traveled to Kenya to deliver essential health care to rural communities.

Partnering with Unimedlink International, the team worked alongside local medical staff and volunteers to provide services in remote areas where patients often walk long distances for care. During their four-day mission, the team offered a range of health care services, including triage, blood pressure and blood sugar assessments, counseling for new diabetics, HIV testing, family planning discussions, vaccinations, and oncology screenings. They also made referrals for social work follow-up and provided dental and eye care as needed. In total, the team treated over 1,500 patients in 4 days, making a significant impact on the local population by improving access to vital health care services in underserved areas.
