Kaiser Permanente Fresno’s Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Committee brings together employees and physicians from across our service area to champion diversity and inclusivity. Each year, the committee hosts the Belong@KP Fair, highlighting programs, services and community resources that support our efforts.
This year’s event, titled “Aging Well,” focused on care and resources that enrich the lives of older adults and their caregivers. Representatives from the American Heart Association, Central California Food Bank, Cultiva la Salud, Dedicated Care In-Home Services, Fresno-Madera Agency on Aging, and Valley Caregiver Resource Center shared health, lifestyle, and social service information. Attendees engaged directly with these partners – asking questions and accessing resources tailored to their unique needs or those of their patients. These conversations opened doors to new possibilities for care, connection, and empowerment, reinforcing that aging well is a shared responsibility.
The event was hosted at all Fresno Area locations and underscored Kaiser Permanente Fresno’s commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and community building.
Adding to this spirit of unity, the Gurpurab celebration brought together employees, physicians, visitors, and community members for a vibrant tribute to Sikh values of love, kindness, and service to humanity.
Volunteers welcomed attendees with educational materials highlighting Sikh teachings of compassion and equality. The hospital cafeteria atrium radiated warmth as participants explored the spiritual significance of Gurpurab while enjoying traditional Indian dishes such as samosas, Gulab Jamun, and colorful sweets. Live music enriched the festive atmosphere, and a touching activity invited guests to write notes of kindness for strangers — simple yet powerful gestures that echoed Sikh principles of selfless action.
The Gurpurab event was coordinated by Case Manager Gurpreet Saran, MSN, RN, in partnership with the committee.
Through education, cultural exchange, food, music, and acts of kindness, these events celebrated diversity while inspiring attendees to embrace values of unity and compassion in everyday life. They reflect our ongoing mission to create spaces where every individual feels valued, respected, and connected.
