Nurses volunteer at the Elk Grove Food Bank

Volunteering is a way of giving back to the community for nurses at South Sacramento

In April and November 2025, nurses from across the hospital actively volunteered at the Elk Grove Food Bank, partnering with Public Affairs and the Food Bank Coordinator to support National Volunteer Month and ongoing community service initiatives. These efforts included food distribution, organization, and outreach, directly assisting Elk Grove residents facing food insecurity.

The volunteer teams, comprised of nurses, nursing students, and professional governance council members, strengthened community ties and modeled compassionate care beyond the hospital setting. Their service improved access to essential nutrition, fostered mentorship, and promoted health equity.
