South San Francisco nurses make an impact beyond the hospital walls

KP SSF nurses brought compassion beyond the hospital offering screenings education and hands on support to the community.

In 2025, Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco (KP SSF) nurses continued to extend their care beyond the bedside, serving the community through outreach, education, and hands-on support. Their compassion and commitment to improving the health and well-being of others were evident across multiple events throughout the year.

In May 2025, KP SSF nurses volunteered at the 25th Annual South San Francisco Senior Health Fair, proudly sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. They provided free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings to older adults in the community, helping participants better understand their health and encouraging preventive care. Their kindness and expertise created a welcoming and supportive environment that made the event a resounding success.

In August 2025, KP SSF nurses joined forces with volunteers, physicians, and family members to provide health screenings and wellness education to more than 400 community residents at a large regional event. The team’s enthusiasm and collaboration earned Kaiser Permanente the “Most-Spirited Award,” recognizing their energy, teamwork, and passion for service. Together, they represented the best of KP South San Francisco—compassionate caregivers dedicated to health, hope, and community.

In October 2025, Medical-Surgical Assistant Nurse Manager Maria Perla Logronio, BSN, RN volunteered alongside her interprofessional peers in Project Rebuilding Together, an initiative to repair and rehabilitate homes for families in East Menlo Park. Her participation helped restore safety and stability for community members most in need, reflecting the heart of nursing beyond clinical care.

Through these efforts, KP South San Francisco nurses continue to embody compassion in action, making a lasting difference both inside and outside the hospital walls.
