The San Rafael Medical Center’s Professional Governance Coordinating/Oversight Council has gained real momentum in 2025, leading to many successful initiatives that have improved patient outcomes, professional practice, and the working environment. Together, representatives from each unit collaborate, share best practices, and identify projects that create positive change across the medical center.

The San Rafael Professional Governance structure comprises of five core councils, including Quality and Safety, Care Experience and Caring Science, Professional Development, EBP and Research, Magnet Ambassadors, and the Professional Governance coordinating/oversight council. Chairs of these core councils are Ashley Thompson-Brundidge, MSN, RN; Sarah Montague, BSN, RN, CCEP, ACM; Arleen Velasco, BSN, RN; Sara Stein, BSN, RN, CMSRN; and Cory Winther, BSN, RN, CNOR.
