Postpartum hemorrhage is an emergency situation that requires timely efficient teamwork. The previous emergency cart used for teams to respond to post-partum hemorrhages did not have standardized items stocked. The new carts are standardized for consistency for both Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby Unit reducing confusion for nurses that come to assist. This intervention minimizes the need to leave the room, giving care teams more time to provide critical support at the bedside.
These new hospital carts are like very-organized emergency kits designed to keep moms safe after they have a baby.
Here is what makes them special:
- Safe Storage: They have locked drawers that stay cold to keep important emergency medicines fresh. These medicines are used to stop heavy bleeding.
- Measuring Tools: The carts come with a scale and special red bags. This helps doctors and nurses measure exactly how much blood is lost so they know how to help.
- Room for Equipment: There is plenty of space for bigger tools, so the medical team can grab them quickly.
We bought extra carts to make sure there is always one fully stocked and ready to go for the moms in the Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby units.
