New Knowledge, Innovation & Improvements

Kaiser Fresno nurses drives nursing excellence through dissemination of research and evidence-based practice

Kaiser Permanente Fresno empowers nurses to lead research studies and share innovation that improve care locally and beyond.

Health care is rapidly evolving, and nursing must advance by integrating new knowledge. This progress relies on applying emerging evidence and conducting research where gaps exist. Nursing research improves clinical outcomes, patient safety, and operational efficiency. To foster a culture of inquiry, health care organizations need strong infrastructure to support research initiatives.

At Kaiser Permanente Fresno, nurses benefit from well-defined structures and processes that support research at local, regional (Kaiser Permanente Northern California) and national levels. These systems provide resources, mentorship, and encouragement, ensuring nurses in every role can actively engage in research.

Fresno nurses participate in research and evidence-based practice (EBP) in a variety of forums. Quality and performance improvement projects involving the use of EBP are completed in unit-based councils and committees. The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Council in Fresno also includes a subcommittee solely focused on research and EBP.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno encourages and supports external dissemination of research and EBP projects. The 2025 dissemination opportunities are detailed below:
