Actions & Initiatives
Our pediatric nursing team recognized that existing diabetic teaching materials were overwhelming and not user-friendly for newly diagnosed patients and families. To improve this, we updated and reorganized the education folders, ensuring that information was clear, concise, and easier to navigate. The diabetes booklet was revised with new, evidence-based information, and QR codes were added to connect families directly to reliable online resources. The team also redesigned the diabetes log to provide a streamlined, easy-to-use tool for daily tracking. In addition, families were introduced to new hands-on tools—such as a skin pad to safely practice how insulin is injected into the skin—helping bridge the gap between learning and real-world application.
Impact & Outcomes
These updates empowered families to feel more confident in managing a new diagnosis, reducing anxiety, and improving engagement in care. The refreshed booklet offered clearer guidance, QR codes provided instant access to trustworthy resources, and the improved diabetes log encouraged consistent self-management. By practicing injections with the skin pad, families gained confidence in a critical skill before going home. Nurses reported smoother, more effective teaching sessions, while families shared that the updated resources made information easier to understand and apply. By modernizing diabetic education with both innovative tools and updated materials, our team strengthened family confidence and contributed to better patient outcomes.
