The Alan Whippy Awards are named in honor of Dr. Alan Whippy, who pioneered Performance Improvement structures at Kaiser Permanente to drive enhanced quality of care across our medical centers.

Kaiser Permanente Redwood City received the 2025 Dr. Alan Whippy Excellence Awards:

• Hospital Quality – winning 9 years in a row
• Outpatient Quality – winning 9 years in a row
• Safety – winning 3 years in a row

The repeated receipt of these awards is very impressive. This award acknowledges Redwood City’s excellence in every focus area of inpatient and outpatient care and is a testament to the extraordinary care delivered by our front-line staff and physicians, and the dedicated partnership of all departments who support our care delivery. Measures include mobility, sepsis, blood management, stroke, care experience, designated decision maker, smoking cessation, and maternal child health.
