Kaiser Permanente First Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Reunion Celebration

From Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to new beginnings, families reunited with care teams to celebrate resilience, hope, and miracles.

On October 18, 2025, Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center hosted its inaugural Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Reunion, design by Family Birth Center Unit Practice Council and supported by leadership. This event marks a heartwarming milestone for our growing NICU program. The event brought together 44 NICU graduates and over 145 family members, filling our cafeteria and courtyard with smiles, laughter, and gratitude.

The fall-themed festival featured seasonal activities, crafts, games, food, and a librarian who hosted story time. The reunion allowed families and staff an opportunity to reconnect outside the hospital setting. Parents shared stories of resilience and hope, while our care team celebrated the incredible journeys of the babies who once received specialized care in our unit.

Since opening just two years ago, the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville NICU has cared for some of our community’s most vulnerable newborns, providing advanced medical support close to home. This first reunion was a meaningful way to honor the progress of our NICU graduates and the compassionate collaboration between families and our dedicated care team.

We look forward to making the NICU Reunion an annual tradition — celebrating growth, gratitude, and the enduring bonds that begin in our NICU.
