Quiet nights, stronger mornings: Enhancing patient recovery

Our 3 North Team has launched an initiative focused on enhancing sleep quality to support a more positive patient experience.

Our goal was to improve the sleep environment for patients on 3 North by reducing nighttime noise. To support this effort, we launched the “Quiet at Night” initiative. The team began by surveying patients to identify the most common sources of nighttime disturbances. Based on this feedback, several targeted interventions were implemented, including staff education on noise reduction, reinforcement of the visitor policy, installation of a noise‑monitoring device, and the provision of comfort resources such as warm blankets, earplugs, and eye masks.

Impact on Patient Experience

Following implementation, 3 North demonstrated consistent month‑over‑month improvement in patient experience rankings. Prior to the intervention, the unit ranked in the 30.8th percentile in April 2025 compared to peer facilities. Post‑intervention data showed a steady upward trend, with the unit reaching the 41.7th percentile by July 2025. These improvements highlight the positive impact of targeted environmental interventions on patient comfort and satisfaction.
